She went on to coach, umpire and administer at all levels of the game throughout Canada. In 1983, she was awarded the Victoria Sports Person award and the BCWFHF Gold Pin for her contributions to BC Field Hockey. Pat was a long-time president and vice president of the BCWFHF and was inducted into the Victoria Sports Hall of Fame in 2020. She was instrumental to the growth of the sport particularly on the women’s side from 1960-1975. A great player in her own right, Marg played on the Hall of Fame-inducted 1956 Women’s National Team. Her coaching, administrative and executive abilities are what made her irreplaceable in the field hockey community.

Florence ‘Flossie’ Strachan-Petersen was a member of the 1956 Women’s National Team that led the first international delegation to Australia.
