In the EY Hockey League Menโs and Womenโs Division 1 we have reached Round 18 this weekend, with the final matches formally deciding who makes the EY Champions Trophy play-offs.
In the Womenโs Division Corinthians are already relegated but going into the final round of matches Monkstown and Pegasus are joint 8thย and level on points, so who goes down could come down to their respective results this weekend.
The Champions Trophy picture may become clearer after the Thursday nightโs result (Railway V Old Alex, Thursday April 11 at Park Avenue). But theoretically if UCD and Elks were to win on Saturday and Alex fail to pick up points in their remaining fixtures they could miss out on the playoffs.ย Old Alexandra finish their campaign away to League winners Loreto and play second placed Railway Union on Thursday. Very tough final fixtures.
In the Menโs Division 1 Instonians and UCD are already relegated but there is still a number of permutations possible with regards to who makes the EYHL Quarter-finals next weekend.
In the EYHL 2 for both Men and Women we have reached the quarter-final rounds to try and find the final two semi-finalists who will advance to next weekendโs semi-final and final blockbuster. The winners of Pool A and Pool B got byes to the semi-finals and the next placed teams play off for the right to play against them in the semi-finals. The EYHL 2 finals are about bragging rights and a trophy as both teams that reach the decider will gain promotion to the EYHL 1 for season 2024-25.
