NETHERLANDS: PLAYER OF THE YEAR- THREE BELGIAN STARS IN THE TOP FIVE

Earlier this week we announced the Player of the Year list for the women in the Tulp Hoofdklasse. Today it is time for the men. We already know the winner, that is Sander de Wijn. His closest pursuer is Justen Blok, who finished just behind the leader. The Rotterdam defender played a huge part in the magnificent season of his team, which made it to the play-off final.

The rest of the top five is filled by three Belgian internationals. Both Arthurs – De Sloover and Van Doren – and Florent Van Aubel were all the best players on their teams. Just behind that we also find a notable customer, Sam Lane. Lane. The Oranje-Rood striker owes all his points to his first half of the season, in which he performed fantastically. Due to injuries, the New Zealander no longer played for the Eindhoven team.

What also stands out: the winner of the previous season, who we find in eleventh place. Jonas de Geus missed practically the entire first half of the competition due to an injury, but recovered nicely after the winter. Last highlight: the first player without international matches to his name is Schaerweijde goalkeeper Jan de Wijkerslooth, who finished eighteenth.

The ranking is a result of the vote of all captains and coaches in the Hoofdklasse. They submitted their top five to the editors of hockey.nl during the winter break and after the season, which led to the following ranking.
