Last Thursday and Friday several catch-up matches were played in the Silver Cup. For the ladies two games in the sixth round of the cup were scheduled, while for the men four games from the fifth round were played.
For the ladies, first division team Ede recorded a 3-1 victory over second division team Maarssen and thus qualified for the next round. AMVJ, finalist in 2019, was also successful. The team from Amstelveen convincingly defeated Forescate 5-0. Next Friday, six remaining catch-up matches in the sixth round of the women’s tournament will be played. The seventh round is scheduled for March 21.
Results Ladies:
On the men’s side, the first of four catch-up games in the fifth round was played Thursday. Spandersbosch needed shoot-outs to beat Amersfoort after the game ended 1-1.
A day later, Zwart-Wit recorded a clear 4-1 victory over Warande. The games Barendrecht-Rijswijk and Mezen-Upward resumed after the games were stopped in November. Defending champion Rijswijk started against Barendrecht with a 1-0 lead and eventually won 2-1. Upward prevailed against Mezen by winning 3-2 after the game resumed at 1-1.
The sixth round of the Silver Cup Men is scheduled for Thursday, March 14.
