Top scorers: Jip Janssen in the footsteps of Paul Litjens

In the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men, Jip Janssen is the second player after Jeroen Hertzberger to reach the limit of thirty goals in this season. The tow king of Kampong joins a select group of club icons. Only two other players of the Utrecht club ever scored more often in one season.

With two rounds to go, the battle for the top scorers title is certainly not yet decided. League leader Yibbi Jansen (SCHC) missed a penalty ball against HDM (1-0) on Sunday and has been waiting for her 21st goal of the season since the beginning of April. However, the gap with the pursuers Michelle Fillet (Amsterdam) and Lola Riera (HGC) did not close: Fillet did not play against Tilburg (0-0) last weekend due to injury and Riera remained dry against Hurley (2-0).

Tulp Hoofdklasse Men

Jip Janssen scored one goal against Pinoké (2-1) last Sunday to score thirty league goals this season, three fewer than Rotterdam forward Jeroen Hertzberger. It is rare for a Kampong player to hit more than thirty times.

In the past, only two other players from the Utrecht club managed to score at least thirty times in one big league season: the legendary Paul Litjens did it in three seasons and Paul-Robert Lankhout was the last Kampong player in the 1999-2000 season.

With thirty goals in this season, the big league counter for Janssen now stands at 98 goals. The defender can therefore reach the magical limit of one hundred goals in the remaining two rounds of play. He then joins a select group of five players with more than a hundred league goals for Kampong: Paul Litjens (267), Tom van ‘t Hek (206), Constantijn Jonker (177), Roderick Weusthof (115) and Melchior Looijen (113).

With three rounds to go, Bram Weers has revived the battle for the top scorers title. The SCHC forward scored a hat-trick in the home game against Push (4-2) and increased his league total to seventeen goals. That is only four fewer than list leader David Blom of Nijmegen.

In addition to Weers, Mats Dicke (Cartouche) also fired three times last weekend. After his trio of goals against HBS (1-4 win), he is on fourteen goals and is therefore in the subtop of the top scorers ranking.
