The Argentine women’s field hockey team lost 2-1 against New Zealand in Antwerp, Belgium, for a new FIH Pro League date. Las Leonas will have a rematch this Tuesday, June 20, starting at 1:00 p.m. (Argentine time), against the same rival in what will mark the last presentation of the Argentines in the 2022/2023 edition of the international contest.
Those led by Fernando Ferrara, who had just won two consecutive victories against China, both by 2-1, dominated the game against the oceanic team but did not have the necessary effectiveness to prevail on the scoreboard.
Olivia Shannon was in charge of making it 1-0 in favor of the New Zealanders in the first quarter, in which Las Leonas were unable to convert any of the four penalty corners they took. During the second quarter, Las Leonas had five set plays, of which they could only make one.
Valentina Costa Biondi, dragged, achieved the transitory tie. In the third and fourth, the game became more even and Argentina was a little imprecise. Hope Ralph, after a short from her team, was in charge of scoring the 2-1 victory for New Zealand.
