Loris Grandchamp scored the quickest EHL hat trick as Royal Orée swept past the challenge of Slavia Prague in their first EHL appearance, setting up a huge tie with Rot-Weiss Köln on Sunday.
His triple in the first 12 minutes helped them win 11-0, giving them a better goal difference than their German counterparts ahead of their Pool B showdown. It was three minutes faster than Alan Sothern’s hat trick against Kelburne in 2009.
Finn Ward actually got the first strike before Grandchamp made it 2-0, 3-0 and 4-0 in rapid fashion; Larry Fauchey, Ward’s second, a fine strike from Sascha Kinnen and Charles Masson’s effort made the difference eight by half-time.
Orée had their work done at this stage and were able to go through the motions in the second half. Ward completed his own hat trick in Q3 before Victor Saint Martin and Maxime Pitance brought the score into double figures.
