EHL: Kampong snatch late win as Pinoké draw

Duco Telgenkamp’s last minute penalty corner rebound saw SV Kampong begin their 2024 phase of the men’s Hoofdklasse with a 2-1 victory over Schaerweijde.

He struck amid a phase of late set pieces to get the Utrecht side out of a hole against the struggling outfit from Zeist.

Jip Jansen had fired Kampong into the lead from a corner in the 16th minute but they were not able to build further on that.

And they were pegged back in the 57th minute when Jure van der Have profited after a loose attempt to clear lines opened the door for Schaerweijde.

Kampong responded with all guns blazing and won a series of corners, one of which was well saved by Telgenkamp sliding home the shot on this backhand.

The result keeps them in the top four places ahead of Friday evening’s big game against Bloemendaal at ’t Kopje.

The other EHL-bound side Pinoké drew 1-1 at HGC. Joep Troest’s diving finish put the FINAL8 hosts 1-0 up in the first half but the hosts fought back and equalised via Willem van Campen.

Pinoké are in third place, losing ground on leaders Oranje-Rood who beat hdm 2-1 and Bloemendaal who were 4-2 winners over Rotterdam.

Up next for Pinoké is a big derby date against AH&BC Amsterdam.
