The semi-final scene is set in the ABN AMRO EHL U14 Boys competition following a series of close-run battles at Pinoké on day one of the competition.
It opened in spectacular fashion in Pool A with Harvestehuder THC and Real Club de Polo playing out a 3-3 draw. Guillermo Armenteras gave Polo the lead in the seventh minute but two Louis Zeuzem goals swapped the advantage.
Ignacio Landaluce tied it up at 2-2 for Polo before Zeuzem completed his hat trick. Armenteras, however, netted in the 29th minute to make it 3-3.
Polo were then undone 1-0 by hdm in their next game – Floris Cornelissen scoring the only goal – to leave them needing a favour in the closing match of the group.
It did not come as Harvestehuder THC and hdm ended up drawing 2-2. Kaijing Schöner and Jannes Fuerst had HTHC two up at half-time but two more goals from Cornelissen meant a draw which saw both sides advance.
In Pool B, Royal Racing Club de Bruxelles and Old Georgians both advanced with seven points as they proved too strong for French side Nantes.
Racing were 8-0 winners with a Benjamin Toussaint scoring a hat trick against Nantes while OGs won 4-0 with three goals coming in the last three minutes after Thomas Wolf’s earlier opener.
Already confirmed in the semis, Racing and OGs both played out a 0-0 draw in the final match of the group stages.
Sunday sees hdm take on Old Georgians at 10am while Racing are up against HTHC at 11.15am.
Nantes will play Real Club de Polo in the fifth place playoff at 12.30pm before the bronze match at 1.45pm and the final takes place at 3pm, all at Pinoké.
