EHL: Surbiton and hdm land EHL U14 titles

Surbiton and hdm were crowned the ABN AMRO EHL U14 champions following a thrilling end to the competition at Pinoké over the last two days.

In the girls tournament, Surbiton produced a perfect four wins from four to win the title, keeping clean sheets in both the semi-final and final.

The decider against Braxgata was decided by a single Francesca Weal goal in the 23rd minute as they held on for a 1-0 win in a tense final.

Earlier in the day, they won their semi-final against Club de Campo de Madrid 3-0 with goals from Phoebe Geoghegan, Olivia Osborne and Amelie Heal.

Brax won through to the final with a 3-1 win against Uhlenhorst Mülheim.

In the placing matches, Campo took third spot with a 4-3 shoot-out win against Uhlenhorst while hdm edged out Pinoké for fifth spot with a 2-1 win.

In the boys competition, hdm won a thrilling contest against Royal Racing Club de Bruxelles – coached by Diego Lucaccioni who played in the EHL last year – in the final 3-2.

Racing had the early momentum, taking the lead via Toine Amato but it was quickly countered by Floris Cornelissen’s seventh minute equaliser.
