Pune, 15th March: Day 3 of the 14th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship saw Hockey Haryana, Hockey Association of Odisha, Hockey Punjab and Hockey Mizoram register victories at the Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium Pimpri, Pune. Among the day’s top individual performances was Hockey Haryana’s Deepika (2’, 40’, 42’, 49’, 56’) who scored five goals, while Punjab’s Sarabdeep Kaur’s (15’, 39’, 56’), Mizoram’s H. Lalruatfeli (29’, 48’, 56) and Lalpeksangi (49’, 53’, 54) logged hat-tricks.
Hockey Haryana registers assertive victory against Assam Hockey in campaign opener; Deepika shines with five goals:
Hockey Haryana secured a comprehensive 15-0 victory against Assam Hockey in their first clash in Pool D. With 11 players who have represented the Indian Women’s Hockey Team in the squad, Haryana looked a formidable side. Indian Women’s Hockey Team forward, Deepika (2’, 40’, 42’, 49’, 56’) buoyed Hockey Haryana with an impressive performance, proving lethal in front of goal with five goals. Deepika’s exploits were aided by braces from Indian Women’s Hockey Team forward Sharmila Devi (2’, 35’) Indian Women’s Hockey Team defender Udita (32’, 36’) and Indian Women’s Hockey Team midfielder Mahima Choudhary (15’, 47’). Further asserting Hockey Haryana’s dominance, Indian Women’s Hockey Team midfielders Neha Goyal (18’), Navneet Kaur (26’) and Jyoti (50’) scored a goal each while Ekta Kaushik (44’) chipped in as well.
Hockey Association of Odisha emerges victorious against Goans Hockey:
Later in the day, the Hockey Association of Odisha began their campaign with a 9-1 victory against Goans Hockey in a Pool E clash. Dipti Lakra (5’, 12’) Dipi Monika Toppo (10’, 51’) and Aten Topno (12’, 34’) scored a brace each while Jiwan Kishori Toppo (29’), Nitu Lakra (57’) and Anupa Barla (60’) scored one goal each. Meanwhile, Geetha Rathod (47’) scored a consolatory goal for Goans Hockey in the fourth quarter.
Hockey Punjab displays strength in resounding triumph against Hockey Rajasthan:
In an afternoon Pool F clash, Hockey Punjab imposed themselves upon Hockey Rajasthan with an 11-2 victory. Sarabdeep Kaur’s (15’, 39’, 56’) hat-trick and braces from Taranpreet Kaur (1’, 42’) and Kirandeep Kaur (18’, 45) led the attack. Furthermore, Rajwinder Kaur (9’), Jotika Kalsi (22’), Indian Women’s Hockey Team forward Baljeet Kaur (41’) and Priyanka (51’) also contributed to the scoreline. Hockey Rajasthan only found the back of the net twice as Rajveer Kour (19’) and Reena Saini (36’) scored in the second and third quarters respectively.
Hockey Mizoram defeats Hockey Himachal:
In the final Pool F clash of the day, Hockey Mizoram defeated Hockey Himachal, 10-0. Captain H Lalruatfeli (29’, 48’, 56) scored a critical hat-trick along with Lalpeksangi (49’, 53’, 54). Meanwhile, Lalhlunmawii (12’), Lalruatfeli (37’), Indian Women’s Hockey Team forward Lalremsiami (47’) and Marina Lalramnghaki (59’) snatched a goal each.
In Thursday’s final two matches of the 14th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship, Manipur logged a comfortable win while hosts Hockey Maharashtra also emerged triumphant to claim their berth in the Quarter-Finals.
Manipur Hockey brings up a comfortable win against Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey:
In the fifth match on Thursday, Manipur Hockey defeated Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey 12-0 in their Pool G clash. Manisha Chauhan (8’, 11’, 31’) scored a hat-trick for Manipur Hockey, Sakshi Jain (26’, 45’) and Bramhacharimayum Sarita Devi (46’, 47’) scored braces, while Prabhleen Kaur (17’), Thokchom Pinki Devi (19’), Meenu Rani (36’), Chingshubam Sanggai Ibemhal (55’) and Lanleibi Khundrakpam Chanu (60’) scored a goal each for their team.
Hosts Hockey Maharashtra defeats Delhi Hockey to go through to the quarter-finals:
In the sixth match on Thursday, Hockey Maharashtra defeated Delhi Hockey 3-0 to top Pool B with two wins in as many games and qualified for the knockouts. Kajal Sadashiv Atpadkar (11’), Rutuja Dadaso Pisal (21’) and Priyanka Wankhede (57’) scored a field goal each to help Hockey Maharashtra win the game.
