NETHERLANDS: FIRST FOR YIBBI JANSEN, ANOTHER HAT TRICK FOR JIP JANSSEN

This season’s top scorer lists in the Premier League have been led since last weekend by two penalty corner guns who have been scoring consistently for some time now. Among the women, SCHC’s Yibbi Jansen is the first to reach double figures, while among the men, Kampong defender Jip Janssen single-handedly leads the rankings.

Tulp Hoofdklasse Ladies

Yibbi Jansen’s production has been at a high level for quite some time, but the SCHC midfielder had never before managed to score four times in one game in the big league. Until last Sunday, when she contributed to a big win over Oranje-Rood (0-6), her previous club, with four accurate penalty corners. Thanks to that four-hit winner, Jansen is now the only top scorer in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Dames with ten goals, behind Fay van der Elst and Frédérique Matla, who both failed to score.

After her hat trick against Rotterdam (1-6), Den Bosch attacker Maartje Krekelaar is suddenly in the sub-top of the list of best shooters. She has six goals and is emphatically chasing her personal record from two seasons ago, when she scored nine times in competition for Den Bosch.

Tulp Hoofdklasse Men

After his three goals against HDM (5-4) on October 21, Jip Janssen scored three times again for Kampong last Sunday, this time against HGC (0-4). Thanks to his  back-to-back hat tricks, the defender now leads the top scorers list in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men with ten goals. He is closely followed by Oranje-Rood’s Sam Lane, who scored twice against Rotterdam (6-3). On behalf of that club, Jeroen Hertzberger also added two goals to his total.

Hertzberger can write history next Saturday in the home game against HDM. He needs two more goals to break the eternal goals record in the Premier League. This has been in the hands of his former teammate Roderick Weusthof for twelve years, who scored 346 competition goals at the highest level.

Women’s Promotion Class

There is no progress in the top scorers list of the Women’s Promotion Class. Last Sunday’s seventh round produced no fewer than thirteen new goalscorers. The 123 goals that could be celebrated so far were scored by a total of 78 different players, fifty of whom scored exactly once.

At the top of the top scorers list, Nicola Pluta (Leiden) and Lisa van Ireland (MOP) were joined by Bo van Kempen (also MOP). The trio has five goals. Their pursuers Helen Jacobs (HIC) and Mylee Vos de Mooij (Laren) did not score.

Men’s Promotion Class

After seven rounds of play, three players jointly lead the shooting rankings in the Men’s Promotion Class with eight hits: Stijn Draaijer, Hjalmar Voskuil and Noud Borsten. Ede captain Draaijer scored for the sixth round in a row, the longest running scoring streak in the competition. Hurley’s Voskuil produced his second hat-trick of the season in the 4-3 win over Ede. Borsten did not score on Sunday at Push, which lost 1-2 at home to Tilburg. Just behind the leaders, Tijn Stuve (Nijmegen) made the greatest progress on Sunday: he registered a hat trick against Gooische (7-3 win) and thus doubled his season total.
