Netherlands: Gold Cup (D): Den Bosch, Tilburg en Amsterdam naar laatste vier

The ladies of Den Bosch, Tilburg and Amsterdam qualified for the semifinals of the Gold Cup on Wednesday night. Last November, Oranje-Rood already joined the last four of the cup tournament by defeating Were Di 3-0.

Den Bosch, which won the third edition of the Gold Cup in 2022, had an excellent start of the game against HGC in Wassenaar. Already after two minutes Frédérique Matla was successful and the international put her team ahead. That goal had a special touch: it was the 350th goal in her field hockey career. She scored 247 for Den Bosch and 103 as an Orange international.

After halftime Emma Reijnen doubled the score for the leader in the Tulip big league and just before the final whistle Charlotte Englebert put the final score on the board: 0-3, the 21st win in a row for Den Bosch in all competitions.

Promotion class Ring Pass had little to say on their own field against Tilburg. It became 1-5. For Tilburg, Mikki Roberts, Jeske van Bavel, Daphne Nikkels, Merel Tukkers and Iris Dominicus scored. Trailing 0-3, Emma Allroggen scored the honorary goal on behalf of the home team.

At the Amsterdamse Bos, Amsterdam drew the longest straw against neighbors Hurley: 0-2. At the last minute of the first quarter Marijn Veen put last season’s cup finalist into the lead. That score was doubled after the break by Renske Balemans.

Cancelled in November

The games in the Gold Cup quarterfinals were initially scheduled to be played last November. Due in part to poor weather conditions, the games were cancelled.
