Scotland: GB honours caps presentations in 2023

The Scottish Hockey Heritage Group was delighted to present GB caps to players who could not make the main event at Uddingston or Lee Valley in 2022.

Caroline Jordan, a former Hyndland member, played in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where GB came 4th, coached by Scot Dennis Hay. She then travelled to Australia immediately after the games and decided to settle there.

Ellen Muir/Paterson was selected for the squad for the 1980 Moscow Olympics and had “done all the training” when the players got the message that they were not going. This was a boycott to protest the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in late 1979.

Louise Gordon, formerly Glasgow Western, Alison Rowatt, formerly Giffnock and Edinburgh Ladies and Kath Archer/Gray, formerly Glasgow Western, Loughborough and Wimbledon all played for GB in 2003. They enjoyed trips to South Africa, USA, and Buenos Aires.

Guy Fordham, who has lived in Edinburgh for 10 years, is a double Olympian. He played in Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004, with Scot Graham Moodie.

Goalkeepers Alistair McGregor and Nicola Cochrane also received caps. Alistair represented GB at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and Nicola won ten caps for GB between 2018 and 2019.
