Scotland: Success for Grange and Grove Menzieshill at the U18 National Club Cup Finals

U18 Girls National Club final – Grange 7-2 Fjordhus Reivers

Grange won the U18 Girls’ National Club final with 7-2 victory over Fjordhus Reivers at Peffermill.

The game had only just begun when Jen Cain found the bottom left corner from a tight angle to give Grange an early lead. 1-0.

Grange almost went 2-0 ahead shortly later when Marianna Maclean went on a weaving solo run from the left, but her final effort thundered past right post.

Reivers began to play themselves back into the game and soon equalised through Gina Mackenzie from a corner routine to make it 1-1.

Minutes later Reivers took the lead just before the first break through a well taken goal by Aela Thomson after fantastic build up down the right.

Just as the whistle blew for the end of the quarter, the game welcomed an equaliser for Grange from a penalty corner strike by Kirstie Buchan. 2-2.

Grange enjoyed good pressure in the second quarter and looked dangerous from corners.

It was from a corner routine that Grange went 3-2 ahead through an Emily McLean deflection into the roof of the net.

Grange went 4-2 ahead through Iona Syme as the Edinburgh side put some daylight between the teams.

In the final quarter it went to 5-2 when Tallulah McMorris smashed an unstoppable low drive into the bottom right corner.

Marianna Maclean made it 6-2 when she rolled the ball into an empty goal after Reivers took their keeper off.

McMorris struck again to make it 7-2, taking advantage of the keeper being off the pitch, to complete the scoring in the cup victory for Grange.
