Scotland: Wins for Clydesdale Western and Hillhead in women`s Premiership

Clydesdale Western seem to be on the move up the women`s Premiership table after a 3-2 win over GHK at Old Anniesland – after the game had been moved from a frost-bound Titwood.

The three points puts Clydesdale Western up two places to fourth in the table while GHK drop down to sixth.

Kayleigh Justice put GHK a goal up but Clydesdale replied with strikes from Laura Paul at a penalty corner, and then Heather Howie and Emma McGregor while Aimee Martin got another for GHK. In the closing minutes the GHK coach took off her keeper for an additional outfield player to try to rescue the match, but the equaliser was not forthcoming.

In the other lower echelon contest Hillhead finally recorded their first win with a 1-0 victory over Inverleith at Upper Windyedge. The result elevates Hillhead up one place to ninth while the Edinburgh side still share bottom spot with Gordonians.

The contest remained goalless until the final quarter, at a penalty corner a reverse sweep from Rachel Osborne was deflected into the net by Orla Parsons for the three points.

Hillhead`s Jenny SInclair said: “It’s a great win to pick up some points after a tough start to the season.”
