Canada: Field Hockey Canada Honouring the Past

Celebrating Decades of Canadian Field Hockey National Teams

Field Hockey Canada is proud to announce the launch of the “Honouring the Past” project, which is shared with our community on our website. This initiative layers on the fantastic work of the Hall of Fame to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of Canadian National Teams at major competitions over the past 50 years. This celebration on the webpage is designed to preserve these historic team rosters and photos, ensuring that the athletes, staff and teams are shared with our community and continue to inspire future generations of Canadian hockey players and fans.

Visitors to the Honouring the Past pages can explore rosters, images, and results from major international competitions, including FIH World Cups, Olympic, Commonwealth Games and Pan American competitions. This comprehensive archive offers a glimpse into the rich history of Canadian field hockey, showcasing the achievements of our athletes and teams across generations.

The information gathering for this project has been led by Yan Huckendubler, a recently inducted builder in the Field Hockey Canada Hall of Fame. Yan’s contributions to sport communication and photography have been instrumental in global hockey for over three decades. We extend our gratitude to Yan for his efforts in aggregating the information and photos that bring this project to life.

HONOURING THE PAST: Women’s National Team | Men’s National Team

We invite everyone to explore the history of Canadian hockey and celebrate the legacy of our National Teams. Together, let’s honour the past and inspire the future. You’ll notice that some of the archives may appear incomplete. We welcome guest contributors to this project – it is our intent that this can be a living area of FHC’s website that gets updated throughout each year. If you have edits to results, rosters, or any additional photos you’d like to contribute, please reach out to Field Hockey Canada’s Communications Manager Kevin Underhill (kunderhill@fieldhockey.ca) with your contributions. Thank you.

Field Hockey Canada is also delighted to share that on 8th February 2025, we will be hosting a social and recognition evening in Vancouver, B.C. We invite the local community in BC to come out for this social event, meet fellow field hockey enthusiasts and meet and support our current national team athletes. This event will be the first of a series across the country and will include the presentation of athlete milestone awards to athletes. More information will follow and please save the date for this event.
