Chennai, 18th October 2023: The second day of the 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Women and Men South Zone Championship 2023 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, saw Kerala Hockey, Hockey Karnataka and Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu register wins in Women’s category, while Hockey Karnataka, Kerala Hockey and Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu secured wins in the Men’s category.
In the first match of the day, Kerala Hockey defeated Le Puducherry Hockey by 6-2. For Kerala Hockey, Lekshmi D (16’, 21’ and 59’) and Parameswari Pinapothula (25’, 43’, 51’) netted three goals each. For Le Puducherry Hockey, Captain Rajalakshmi R (58’) and Priyadharshini (60’) scored the goals.
In the second match, Hockey Karnataka registered big win over Telangana Hockey with a scoreline of 13-1. For Hockey Karnataka, Captain Lakshmi (13’, 17’, 36’, 39’, 52’) scored five goals, while Vyshnavi Arul (19’, 22’, 44’, 60’) scored four goals, Kotyan Pratheeksha P (5’, 51’) scored two goals and Dechakka S K (55’) and Deepthi K R (1’) scored one goal each. For Telangana Hockey, Ambala Vaishnavi (9′) scored the lone goal.
In the third match, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu triumphed over Hockey Andhra Pradesh 5-4 in a closely contested match. For Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu, Swathi Sharma S (54’, 60’) scored two goals, while Captain Swathi S (16’), Priyadharsini K (60’), Sowmiya (39’) scored one goal each. For Hockey Andhra Pradesh, Captain Thirumalasetty Sree Vidya (8’, 37’) and Kuppa Tulasi (13’, 31’) netted two goals each.
Coming to the Junior Men’s category, Hockey Karnataka defeated Hockey Andhra Pradesh 3-2 in a closely fought match. For Hockey Karnataka, Nishanth M (23’, 41’) scored two goals, while Kakhandaki Rohit (17’) scored one goal. Meanwhile, for Hockey Andhra Pradesh, Devatha Yaswanth (9’, 48’) scored two goals.
In the second match of the day, Kerala Hockey registered 8-0 win over Telangana Hockey. For Kerala Hockey, Ashin M A (12’, 13’, 19’, 20’, 33’, 40’) scored six goals, while Adhithyan K S (6’) and Nufail KR (22’) scored one goal each.
In the last match of the day, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu defeated Le Puducherry Hockey by 4-1. For Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu, Captain Sugumar M (13’, 50’) netted two goals, while Sundarajith M (49’) and Gowtham (24’) scored one goal each. For Le Puducherry Hockey, Anbupathi (48’) scored the lone goal.
