Belgium

Lhe Red Lions won 2-1 (half-time: 1-0) their first Hockey Pro League duel of the weekend against France (FIH-9), on Saturday at the Wilrijkseplein in Antwerp. Still without their stars Arthur Van Doren, Alexander Hendrickx and Sébastien Dockier, engaged in the final of the playoffs of the Dutch championship, Michel van den Heuvel’s men won their 5th success in 9 Pro League games, temporarily going back to the 5th place of competition.

The Belgian goals were scored by Tanguy Cosyns, on penalty-corner (pc), in the 1st half (24th), and by Cédric Charlier, on the same phase (44th, pc). Waterloo Ducks defender Victor Charlet saved the honor for France, still on pc, at the last minute (60th).

Belgium now total 18 points in 9 games, 1 less than England (19), who however have 2 games more. In front of them, India leads the dance with 27 units in 12 games, ahead of Argentina (25/14 games) and Germany (25/14 games).

The rematch between Belgium and France will take place on Sunday, again at 6:00 p.m. and in Antwerp.
