South African Hockey is excited to announce the SA Women’s Hockey squad set to travel to Malaysia for a four-match series – their first international action under new head coach Inky Zondi.
With a massive year ahead, this series is an important step in preparing for the team’s two major targets: securing FIH World Cup qualification at the African Cup of Nations later this year and competing in the FIH Nations Cup 2 in Poland in July, with the goal of earning promotion.
The squad features a strong mix of experience and fresh faces. Paris 2024 Olympians Edith Molikoe, Hannah Pearce, Ntsopa Mokoena, Onthatile Zulu and Ongeziwe Mali bring valuable international experience, while Indoor World Cup stars Tegan Fourie and Cailynn Den Bakker, along with Molikoe, add more firepower to the group.

In line with the team’s commitment to building a broader player base, this tour will also see five players earning their first senior international call-ups: Ane Janse van Vuuren, Baylee Engelke, Cerian Fourie, Tamlyn Kock, Teshawn de la Rey and Shanna Mendonça.
Their inclusion is a reflection of the ongoing effort to grow depth and create more opportunities at the highest level.

With a fresh energy under Zondi’s leadership, this series will provide the squad with a great opportunity to test combinations, fine-tune their approach, and build momentum for a crucial year ahead.
