The “Prime Minister Pakistan Talent Hunt Program” was organised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) at Naseer Banda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad. The men’s and women’s hockey competitions will be held in July.
The purpose of this initiative is to find new talent for the national sport of Pakistan in the best possible way. Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has also named ambassadors, selection committee and technical officials for the scheme.
According to an announcement by the PHF, Olympian Shakeel Abbasi has been nominated as the ambassador for the men’s competition while Saira Ashraf has been nominated for the women’s competitions.
Under the Talent Hunt Program, a selection committee headed by Olympian Rahim Khan has also been formed to find new talent for the improvement of the national sport of hockey.
The details of the technical officials nominated by PHF are as follows.
Secretary General Islamabad Hockey Association Dr Ahsan Tanveer will perform the duties of Tournament Director along with Raja Shuja Iqbal, Asif Baig and Rafat Masood as Assistant Tournament Directors.
Syed Ghafran Shah, Syed Zia Hussain Bukhari, Najeeb Khattak, Naseer Mughal, Chaudhry Mehmood Ahmed, Muhammad Ashraf, Naveed Mirza, Gulfam, Kiniz Sughra and Farzana Rashid will perform their duties as technical officers.
In the field of umpiring, International umpire Jameel Butt will be the Umpires Manager while Ijaz Ahmed will be the Assistant Umpires Manager. Meanwhile, Razia Rizvi will handle the responsibilities of the Women’s umpires Manager.
The umpires Panel nominated by PHF includes M Azim, M Sajid, Shahzeb, Iftikhar, Haji Fahim, Waqas Ahmad Butt (WAPDA), Anwar Hussain (Army), Wasim Abbas (Army), M Ehsan Yousuf (Army), Asad. Abbas (Army) and Malik Safdar are included.
Secretary General District Hockey Association Rawalpindi Muhammad Yasin has been appointed as Chief Coordinator by the PHF for men and women competitions of national sports hockey under the Prime Minister Talent Hunt Program.
