The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2024 is in full flow as six teams are competing for the elusive title that is being played in Malaysia.

Pakistan maintained their position on the top of the points table after drawing 1-1 against Japan on Tuesday. The Green Shirts have seven points from three matches.

Japan is following Pakistan closely as they too have the same points as them but sit on the second position due to goal difference. Both teams are yet to taste defeat in the ongoing tournament and look the absolute favourites.

Meanwhile, Malaysia and New Zealand are in third and fourth place, respectively.

It must be noted that the final will be played on May 11 between the top two on the six-team table

Earlier today, Pakistan faced Japan in one of the best matches of the tournament which ended in a 1-1 draw. The game went evenly as both teams didn’t give much room to each other. However, Japan managed to find their way through Pakistan’s defense in the second leg and scored through a penalty corner.

Pakistan were on their way to losing their first match of the tournament but just a minute before the final whistle, Waheed Ashraf Rana earned them a draw with a 59th-minute strike.

Meanwhile, in the other match, New Zealand and Malaysia played a 10-goal thriller with the home side emerging winner.

Pakistan’s next match is now against Canada on May 8 at the same venue.

Schedule of Pakistan’s remaining matches

Pakistan vs Canada — May 8
