Following a successful 2023 NSW Pride, Pride in Pride round, Hockey NSW and NSW Pride are excited to today announce Pride in Sport as NSW Pride’s 2024 Charitable Partner.
Pride in Sport is Australia’s leading national not-for-profit program specifically designed to assist sporting organisations with the inclusion of athletes, staff, volunteers, coaches, officials, and supporters with diverse sexualities and/or genders
Hockey NSW and NSW Pride want to ensure our sport is inclusive and everyone feels welcome in all levels of the sport of Hockey across NSW.
In 2024 NSW Pride’s very own Greta Hayes was named as the LGBTQ+ Role Model of the year at the Australian Pride in Sport awards recognising her outstanding work as an influential ambassador for inclusivity across the sport sector.
Pride in Sport’s National Program Manager, Beau Newell said regarding today’s announcement: “Pride in Sport is thrilled to partner with Hockey NSW as their charitable partner for the 2024 season. This collaboration is a testament to our shared commitment to fostering inclusivity and ensuring everyone feels welcome in the world of sport. “
“As we move forward together, we look forward to working closely with Hockey NSW to create lasting, positive change and build a culture where diversity is celebrated both on and off the pitch.”
NSW Pride will proudly wear the Pride in Sport logo on their jerseys throughout the 2024 season and look forward to hosting another important Pride in Pride match at our last home match of the season in Goulburn against Canberra Chill.
Hockey NSW CEO Matthew Bulkeley said “Hockey NSW is committed to ensuring our sport is an inclusive and welcoming sport for all. It is important to understand that everyone plays a part in creating a sporting culture that values diversity and everyone’s contribution to the game.”
“We hope that this exciting new partnership will allow us to support and share this important message and provide information and resources to the Hockey community and fans across the state”
