Following the completion of the SA Hockey IPT, South African Hockey has announced a 41-player high performance squad for the SA Men’s Hockey Squad. It’s the first step in the new phase of the national team.
All 18 players of the Paris Olympics squad are retained including Hockey India League bound brothers Dayaan and Mustapha Cassiem. While several players who were part of the broader men’s squad in the past 24 months are also included like Connor Beauchamp, Anton van Loggerenberg and Sihle Ngubane.
There is an opportunity for a second brother set to be included with both Litha and older brother Zenani in the mix. While SA Hockey IPT Player of the Tournament Jaydon Brooker and Goalkeeper of the tournament Cullin de Jager receive their first call ups.
The next major tournament for the senior men will be the FIH Nations Cup in 2025 while all eyes will also be on the African Hockey Cup of Nations as the teams look to qualify for the FIH World Cup in 2026.
