The opening match on Day 6 of the Bihar Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 featured a battle for pride as Korea triumphed over Thailand 3-0 in the 5th/6th place playoff. a witnessed Korea’s commanding performance, which secured them the fifth position in the tournament standings.
First Half: Korea Establishes Dominance
Korea wasted no time asserting their authority, taking control of the game with swift passing and relentless attacks. The breakthrough came early in the first quarter when Seung Ah Lee converted a penalty corner with a powerful strike, giving Korea a 1-0 lead.
Thailand struggled to cope with Korea’s pace and precision but managed to hold them off for the remainder of the first half. Despite several attempts, Korea couldn’t extend their lead before halftime, with the score staying at 1-0.
Second Half: Korea Seals the Win
The second half saw Korea maintaining their aggressive approach. In the third quarter, they doubled their advantage when Hye Jin Cho scored a brilliant field goal, showcasing her agility and composure inside the circle.
Thailand made sporadic attempts to counterattack but couldn’t penetrate Korea’s solid defensive line. Korea added a third goal in the final quarter through Sun Hwa Kim, who capitalized on a defensive error by Thailand to complete the 3-0 scoreline.
