The Royal Army of Oman Secures Runner-Up Position
Muscat, Oman — The Royal Guard of Oman emerged victorious in the Hockey Oman Open Tournament 2024, with the Royal Army of Oman finishing as the runner-up. The tournament took place from 8th to 11th September at the Hockey Oman Stadium in Al Amerat and featured eight participating teams: the Royal Army of Oman, the Royal Guard of Oman, the Royal Navy of Oman, Al Faihaa Foundation, Security and Safety, Jindal Shadeed LLC Company, Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals, and FAP Company.
The teams were divided into two groups through an open draw, with each group competing in a round-robin league format. After intense competition, the Royal Guard of Oman claimed the tournament title, followed by the Royal Army of Oman in second place, and the Security and Safety team securing third place.
In the individual awards, Rashid Salem Al-Fazari from Al Faihaa Foundation was named the tournament’s top scorer, netting an impressive 12 goals. Khalid Jumaa Al-Shuaibi from the Royal Guard of Oman was awarded Best Player, while his teammate, Ahmed bin Khalfan Al-Naabi, was recognized as Best Goalkeeper.
The tournament’s closing ceremony was graced by Colonel Staff Air Hamad Salem Al-Balushi, Secretary-General of the Shooting Association, alongside representatives from the participating teams and members of the hockey Oman.
