Scotland: Scotland U18 Boys EuroHockey Championship squad announced

The Scotland squad for the U18 Boys EuroHockey Championship in Lille, France, has been announced.

Scotland will compete alongside Belgium; Czechia; England; Spain; France; Germany; and the Netherlands in the top tier of European hockey on the quest for gold.

The opening match of the tournament will see Scotland take on Belgium on Sunday 13 July at 2.30pm, before the Scots face France on 14 July at 5pm and the Netherlands on 16 July at 4pm. The crossover games are on Friday 18 July before finals day on Saturday 19 July.

Last time out Scotland finished in sixth spot after a narrow shootout defeat to England denied them fifth.

It’s been a busy summer for the Scots with series contests against Ulster earlier this month, and Ireland this weekend, in preparation for the tournament, held on 13-19 July.

Head Coach Mike Irving said, “This Euros selection has been one of the hardest I have had to make in my coaching career. The boys have worked so hard and have grown so much over this season and I think we are in a good place heading into the Euros.

“The challenge for spaces has been so high and the boys have still stuck together as a team the whole way through which has been amazing to witness and be a part of. We have a couple of last opportunities to prepare which will be invaluable for them. I’m excited to see what this group can do in Lille in July.”
