Scotland: Scotland women draw with Wales in Bowden triangular

A tough goalless draw in Bowden saw Scotland women draw with Wales.

It was a game that saw lots of effort but very few chances as the teams went toe-to-toe in the first game of the weekend.

Scotland enjoyed good possession but there was a lack of opportunities in the contest for both sides.

Ellie MacKenzie came close for Scotland with a strike on the backhand but the effort fizzed just over the bar.

At the end of the first quarter Jess Buchanan produced a sensational save at the bottom right post to deny Wales the opener.

Fran Lonergan also had an opportunity for Scotland with a powerful shot on the turn but it was well saved.

The contest remained in stalemate, and ended in a draw, with Scotland to face England Development tomorrow in their last match of the weekend.

Head Coach Chris Duncan said, “We’ve kept our unbeaten run but it was a frustrating day. We didn’t create many chances but there’s a good platform to build on for the next game. Playing two games in 24 hours is a real benefit to us so we’ll be ready to go again tomorrow.”
