The Hockeyroos have unveiled their most formidable squad yet for the FIH Pro League season six finale in Europe and the UK, boasting the return of seven Olympians in a 22-strong squad packed with in-form talent.

It’s the dream scenario for Head Coach Katrina Powell, as June’s campaign is the penultimate test before the Hockeyroos vie for 2026 World Cup qualification at September’s Oceania Cup in Darwin.

“To have a near-full squad for the first time in 2025, except for one injury, is fantastic timing ahead of an exciting tour for our squad and before World Cup qualification at the Oceania Cup,” Katrina Powell said.

“The newness and the freshness in this lineup is exciting. We had some great results in our opening FIH Pro League campaign in Sydney, followed by a huge learning opportunity for a very young side at the next leg in Argentina, and they’ve shown they’re fast learners.

“This is our biggest opportunity now to welcome back a wealth of experience, finesse our fast, attacking style of play that Australia is renowned for, and to test ourselves against the best.”

Star striker Alice Arnott is set to make her highly anticipated return to the side for the first time since a breakout Paris Olympic Games campaign last year.

Alice broke onto the scene at the start of 2024, enjoying a meteoric rise with the squad as she scored eight goals in 22 appearances, but injury has since halted her momentum.

“It’s certainly a relief to finally see my name on the squad sheet,” Alice Arnott admitted.

“It’s been frustrating and a little bit disappointing to spend the last couple of Pro Leagues sitting out and watching from the sidelines, and I can’t wait to be out there with the girls.”

WA’s Lexie Pickering will make her long-awaited debut in green and gold, three months after a training injury denied her a dream start on the eve of match one of the FIH Pro League in Sydney.

Lexie, who set a Hockey One League record in 2024 with 13 goals, will link up with Queensland’s goal-assist extraordinaire Jade Smith, who has had an impressive start since her debut in February, scoring four goals in seven appearances.

“It’s a dream come true this tour, and I’m just incredibly excited to match up with the Dutch. That’s the biggest thing I’m looking forward to,” Jade Smith exclaimed.

“There’s no better test than playing the world number ones, they have always been a higher class than everyone else and playing them at home will be a huge challenge.

“Us Aussies really step up when we play a high-quality team, and I’ve got new shoes that I can’t wait to test out on their turf. We’re going to bring the speed, and I’m really excited to pull out some new skills and also learn from them too.”

“I love watching us attack. It’s such an exciting style of play and our counter attacks are always so fast,” Alice added.

“Katrina was a renowned attacker for Australia, so she loves that style of play as well, and we’re looking forward to bringing that pace to the Dutch in a couple of weeks.”

The Hockeyroos begin their tour with matches against the Olympic champions in Amsterdam. They then take on India and England in London, before ending the season against Germany in Berlin.
