No 17. UMass vs. James Madison | 2:00 PM ET | Watch
This weekend continues with a Mid-American Conference (MAC) clash between UMass (11-2, 4-1 MAC) and James Madison (8-6, 3-2 MAC).
UMass has enjoyed overall success in their inaugural season in the MAC, consistently earning a spot in the coveted NFHCA Coaches poll and notably topping No. 18 Miami (Ohio)—the MAC champion for the past seven seasons—a few weeks back. Most recently, the Minutewomen claimed a dominant 5-0 victory over Longwood in the progams’ inaugural meeting. The win signaled UMass’ sixth shutout of the season, placing them second nationally and first in the MAC in shutouts. Freshman Emily Barrett notched her third two-goal game of the season, increasing her total to a team-leading eight.
James Madison, who also shutout Longwood, 5-0, could not take down Miami (Ohio), dropping the match, 3-1, last Friday. The Dukes’ most notable victory came earlier this season, stunning No. 14 (then No. 8) Michigan, 3-1.
UMass bested James Madison, 1-0, in their last matchup in 2009.
