England: England squads selected for Junior World Cups

The men’s and women’s squads have been announced that will travel to India and Chile to take on the world’s best and compete for the Junior World Cups.

The men’s squad will travel to Chennai & Madurai for their first Junior World Cup since 2016 having not qualified in 2023 and been unable to travel due to the pandemic in 2021 Matches running from 28 November – 11 December with an opening pool game against the Dutch.

The women return to a familiar venue in Santiago, Chile where they finished fourth in 2023.  The women’s tournament runs from 1 – 13 December.

The women’s squad features six players from the 2023 Junior World Cup alongside and several others who enjoyed medal success at the EuroHockey Junior Championships in 2024.  There are also newcomers including Tilly Woodhead and Tilly Crampsie making their debuts in an international U21 tournament.

Lottie Bingham, Hannah Boss and Sofia Martin have been selected and bring their experience of competing for the senior squad in 24/25 season.

The men’s squad also features a strong mix of experience and debuts with 15 players having just returned from the Sultan of Johor Cup with a bronze medal.

Jonny Sturch-Hibbitt and James Carleton bring their senior experience having trained alongside the senior men’s team for the past 12 months.

Women’s U21 Head Coach, Simon Letchford, said: “Following a lengthy and rewarding training and preparation block, I am delighted to have selected an exciting squad for the 2025 Women’s Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile.

“The squad offers a fantastic blend of athletes with a mix of experience and previous exposure to major events. The group has senior experience in Lottie Bingham, Hannah Boss and Sofia Martin, all having featured in the 2025/26 FIH Pro League while Beth Gardens, Evie Grindal, Biba Mills and Izzy Yonge transition from the squad who played in the EuroHockey U18 Championships earlier this year.

“During a very busy period of the hockey calendar, I would like to thank the clubs and universities that the squad has been selected from and, in particular their coaches for the help, support and co-operation shown in allowing these athletes the chance to be as best prepared as possible.”

Men’s U21 Head Coach, Jon Bleby, said: “I am proud to announce this strong squad that will take on the world’s best at the Junior World Cup in Chennai & Madurai.

“After a rigorous selection process, we have selected a talented squad with selection a testament to the player’s dedication and hard work.

“We have 15 players that have just returned from the Sultan of Johor Cup with a bronze medal, and I know they will use this experience to benefit them in India.

“I want to thank the support of the clubs, schools and universities and recognise their development of these players, and I know each one will be in the best shape possible for the start of the World Cup.”
