England: Premier Division Review Week Four

Men’s Premier Division leaders, Old Georgians, continue to maintain their 100% winning record with another 5-2 win over Holcombe this weekend, Old Georgians are currently on a eight game winning streak against Holcombe in Premier Division, with Holcombe last beating Old Georgians in September 2020, with a score of 3-2 to Holcombe.

Surbiton were on the road to Cardiff & Met securing a 6-1 victory to give them a 100% winning record with a game still in hand, but it took them a time to get going, scoring five goal of their six goals in the fourth quarter after Cardiff & Met held the score to 1-1 until 55 minutes.

Wimbledon also with a game in hand following their Euro Hockey activity last weekend, saw Ed Horler score their first of four goals within the first minute of the game to secure a 4-2 victory over Southgate

Horler is the second player this season to score within the first minute of a game, Old Georgians Alan Forsyth was the first last weekend against Richmond.

Hampstead & Westminster secured their biggest away win since March 2018 by beating Bowdon 8-0. Five of their eight goals were scored from penalty corners with Matt Guise Brown on a hat trick & Tim Guise Brown on two, the other three goals came from open play two to Tim Cross & one to James Oates.

Richmond’s Scott Wall’s two goals were unable to make a mark on their league campaign losing 6-2 to East Grinstead which gives East Grinstead their second successive win for the season.

Beeston hosted Oxted which produced the first draw between the teams in eight Premier Division meetings ending in 2-2 draw. In an evenly contested game Beeston’s Henry Croft opened the scoring with a field goal on 12 minutes, two minutes later Jamie Batten, responded with netting another field goal for Oxted, followed by both teams scoring in the 58th minute courtesy of Josiah Wood for Oxted and Gareth Griffiths for Beeston.

We will have a round-up of the other EHL Divisions on Tuesday, the Goals of the Week clips will be out on Wednesday and the EHL Premier Preview podcast, looking ahead to next Saturday’s games lands on Thursday evening.
