England: Super 6s Final Weekend Is Coming

Sunday 28 January marks the final weekend of the Super 6s Adult Championship and with a European qualification at stake, there is set to be a lot of action.

Six matches are set to take place at the Derby Arena to determine which two teams are going to emerge victorious.

Four Men’s and Women’s teams managed to secure their place in this weekend’s finale over the course of three qualifying weekends this month.

Women’s:

Buckingham women’s team qualified first in their division and are going into the final being unbeaten in eight,  having won seven matches.

Slough women’s team followed as runner-up and are also unbeaten in their last eight games. The last time they won an indoor hockey championship was in 2017 so they are looking to extend their unbeaten record to clinch the title.

East Grinstead make up the third women’s team to make the tournament after a strong second weekend of qualification.

The south west London team, Surbiton, claimed the final women’s spot in the tournament and are on the hunt to claim their first Super 6s title.

Men’s:

The Old Georgians men’s team topped their division and secured the first of four places

In the Men’s Finals, the team have won seven of their last eight games going into the competition and are aiming to improve on this to win their first National Indoor Championship.

Sevenoaks men’s team finished second to allow them to qualify for this weekend having only just inched ahead of 3rd in the Premier Division.

Wimbledon men’s team placed third in their division to secure their place, however, they finished only one point behind Sevenoaks. The two face each other in the men’s second semi-final.

Hampstead & Westminster were the last to secure their place in the Super 6s tournament, having finished 4th out of nine. The men’s team cemented their spot only on goal difference having been equal on points to the 14 time champions East Grinstead.
