Zach Wallace produced some moments of magic to inspire Bloemendaal to a 3-0 win over SV Kampong and send them through to Monday’s EHL Men’s GRAND FINAL.
His inspired tackle set in motion for a memorable opening goal for Jorrit Croon in a very tight contest. Another clever through pass to Lucas Veen made it three after Floris Wortelboer’s deflected cross put daylight between the teams.
All of the goals came in the second half after neither side offered up much space in the opening half hour with defences largely on top. Kampong kept out three corners while Maurits Visser saved well before the break to keep it at 0-0.
The chances began to flow in earnest in the second half with Wallace clattering the inside of the post on the run, the ball somehow spinning across the face of goal.
Derck de Vilder almost got on the board at the far end when his juggling act ended with the ball bumping off the crossbar.
The deadlock was broken in the 38th minute when Wallace robbed the ball behind his back on halfway and then freed Croon down the left channel. He applied the backhand finish that beat Estiaan Kriek.
Within two minutes, it was 2-0 with Wortleboer stretching his legs down the right wing and his cross took a heavy deflection past Kriek.
Kampong threw everything forward in the closing 20 minutes but they could find no space or time in the circle to create clear chances while Visser cleaned up everything else.
With the Kampong goalkeeper removed for an extra outfielder, Bloemendaal made the game extra safe with Veen adding the third insurance goal.
