Watsonians completed a perfect first half of the Scottish women’s season as they won 11 games out of 11 to create a three-point lead at the top of the Premiership.
They completed that run last week with a convincing 5-1 win over third placed Edinburgh University. The game was poised at 1-1 after Ailsa Small put the champions into the lead only for Emily Morris to level at a penalty corner when her deflection went in off a defender`s foot.
But three goals in a five minute spell killed off the students – Fiona Burnet from open play, Emily Dark at a penalty corner and then Sarah Jamieson for a comfortable 4-1 lead. There was only one goal in the second half, scored by Burnet to complete the victory.
It leaves just Clydesdale Western in touch with Watsonians with the former side three points off the pace in second.
It is a solid base for the club to build on in 2026 when they will make their EHL debut against Railway Union at Easter in Den Bosch.
