Braxgata’s unbelievable first EHL Women’s appearance saw them defeat Düsseldorfer HC 3-0 to advance to Monday’s GRAND FINAL.
It means a first medal for a Belgian club in the competition. Indeed, it was all the way back in 1979 when a club from the country won a medal in the top tier in the former EuroHockey Club Cup.
They were good value for this one as they took the lead in the 23rd minute courtesy of Stephanie Vanden Borre’s powerful penalty corner.
It was 2-0 when Ivanna Pessina’s raking pass split the entire Düsseldorf defence to where Louise De Waet was waiting in behind and she calmly finished off.
And Helle Verlinden notched the third from a corner touch at the right post after a ricochet fell her way.
The German champions did have a string of good chances as they ended the contest with 12 penalty corners but the incredible defensive running off the line meant the Brax defence was not to be breached.
