MSC Sumchanka confirmed their 17th national title last week when they took the laurels following the final weekend of action of the Ukranian competition in Vinnitsa.
They proved too strong for their rivals on the domestic scene with their players also picking up numerous personal awards with Karyna Leonova taking the championship best player award, Anastasia Voevoda the top scorer prize (22 goals).
Internally, Katerina Popova was named the team’s best defender and Veronica Movchan picked up the club’s own best player prize.
Indeed, it was a particularly fruitful outdoor season with the club also winning a Polish championship medal with a two-legged final win over KS Start Brzeziny having been invited to take part in their competition.
They also finished in fourth place at the EuroHockey Club Trophy I in Hamburg at Easter. That helped confirm Ukraine’s place in seventh place on the EHL Ranking Table and earned them a spot in next season’s EHL Women’s FINAL12.
