Reading will make their EHL Women’s debut next season after they won the English national title last Sunday in Beeston.
They got the best of Surbiton in the decider with Emma Findlay getting the only goal in the 25th minute, securing their first title since 2013.
On Saturday, they edged out Hampstead and Westminster in a shootout after drawing 1-1 (0-2) while Surbiton fought hard to beat East Grinstead 3-2.
They become the latest club to compete in the EHL in both men’s and women’s format; the men last took part in 2014 and won bronze back in 2011.
