FAN: NFHCA: SUNY New Paltz moves up two, several Division III field hockey teams on five-game, or more, winning streaks

The first third of teams in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III coaches poll continue to haunt the rest of the pack in week six of the poll.

SUNY New Paltz was the only team that saw upward movement greater than one spot by moving up two spots. The poll was published Tuesday.

The upstate New York field hockey team is on a six-game winning streak, as is Messiah. SUNY Geneseo is on a nine-game winning streak. Shenandoah, moving up one spot, is on an eight-game winning streak. Lynchburg five. And, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology five.

According to the NFHCA, “the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll is a composite ranking of the top 20 teams with a .500 or better record in the nation each week. Each Division I team with an NFHCA member coach is permitted one vote for the ranking each week.

“Polls are announced every Tuesday during the field hockey playing season.

The Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.”

The following teams received the most votes cast by NFHCA members. The list is the team rank, name, record, and last position in last week’s poll. Bolded teams have moved position higher or lower from week to week.
