Pinoké broke Den Bosch’s impressive record on Sunday afternoon. The frontrunner, who had remained unbeaten for 60 consecutive league games, went down 3-2 at Amsterdamse Bos.
For the last time, Den Bosch had lost a Hoofdklasse match on 18 September 2022, now 953 days ago. Then it was Amsterdam that inflicted a 2-0 defeat on the Bossche record champion in a wet and bleak Wagener Stadium.
That defeat now feels like prehistory: Joe Biden was only just in the White House, and ChatGPT had yet to even see the light of day.
In that historic unbeaten streak, Den Bosch reached fifty wins and played ten draws. Coach Marieke Dijkstra’s team scored 189 goals, while only allowing 46 goals against – a wall of concrete with a golden edge.
Black jubilee
As if the defeat did not taste sour enough, there was another milestone to record on Sunday: the tap against Pinoké marked Den Bosch’s 100th defeat in the Hoofdklasse. Out of a total of 763 league games at the highest level, Den Bosch won 561 and drew 102 – figures that, despite the recent loss, still sound like a royal record.
