The title for best performing team of the calendar year in the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men has fallen to Oranje-Rood. The Eindhoven team grabbed two more points than chasers Rotterdam and Bloemendaal in 2025.
Oranje-Rood, the proud leader in the Hoofdklasse this season, remained unbeaten in 18 of its 22 league games (W18 D3) and finished on 47 points. Rotterdam and Bloemendaal followed with 45 points, although they played one match more. The team also suffered the fewest defeats of all: only Rotterdam (4-3), Kampong (4-1) and Bloemendaal (2-1) defeated the Eindhoven players.
Together with Pinoké, Oranje-Rood remained the only team without a home defeat in 2025. At home, they won six times and drew four times; Pinoké added to that with eight wins and two draws.
Rotterdam scores big
Kudos to Rotterdam, which was by far the most productive team of the year. Erik van Driel’s formation scored no less than 93 goals in 23 matches – an average of four per match. No other team in the Hoofdklasse exceeded three goals per game this calendar year. Penalty corner specialist Pepijn van der Heijden was the main contributor for Rotterdam with 18 goals.
Hurley without a win
At the bottom of the league table, Hurley was the team with the darkest record. The Forest Owls did not win any of their 22 league matches and faced almost 100 goals against; the counter was stuck at 98 in mid-November.
