The finalists of the ABN Amro Hockey Weekend have been announced. For the women SCHC and Kampong qualified for the final match of the preparation tournament, for the men the final is between Oranje-Rood and Bloemendaal. The battle for the ABN Amro Cup will be decided next Sunday at the complex of Kampong.
In the women’s competition, SCHC was the first to secure a place in the final on Friday. The team of new coach Robbert van de Peppel was 3-0 too strong for Tilburg, through goals by Yibbi Jansen, Elzemiek Zandee and Mette Winter. Later in the evening Kampong eliminated cup holder Pinoké. It was 3-1 in Utrecht, with goals by Sosha Benninga (two) and Eline Jansen for Kampong. On behalf of Pinoké, which reached the playoffs for the first time last year, Florine Rodenburg scored.
The men of Oranje-Rood were too strong for Pinoké in the semifinals. Goals by high-scoring Scottish acquisition Struan Walker and Borja Lacalle made the difference for the Eindhoven men, who can prepare for a final against Bloemendaal. The Mussen disposed of Rotterdam in the other semifinal with the smallest possible difference. German striker Elian Mazkour – coming from Rot-Weiss Köln, scored the winning goal (1-0). He already scored five goals for Bloemendaal this preparation.
