Fay van der Elst got off to a flashy start for the fourth consecutive season last weekend. Amsterdam’s striker immediately registered two goals on the first day of play in the Tulip Women’s premier league, as did Den Bosch attacker Joosje Burg. For the men there was a first for Bloemendaal striker Casper van der Veen.
Tulip Women’s big league
A goal by Van der Elst in September is now as predictable as falling leaves in autumn. Since 2022, no player in the opening month of the league has been as treacherous as the 27-year-old attacker (13 goals). On Saturday, she contributed with two goals to Amsterdam’s narrow home victory over Hurley (4-3).
Van der Elst scored at least twice in the opening weekend of the competition for the fourth (!) season in a row, a unique series. The Dutch national had even more reason to smile, by the way, as her second goal against Hurley was her fiftieth goal in the Hoofdklasse on behalf of Amsterdam.

Klein Zwitserland won thanks in part to two goals by newcomer Pepe Bijlaard and Chard Futcher against promoted Schaerweijde with resounding figures: 7-1. It was the first time in 23 years that the team from The Hague achieved such a big win on its own field. On September 29, 2002, KZ won from SCHC with the same result. At Amsterdam, which won 5-1 against Hurley, Boris Burkhardt also showed his strength with two goals.

After Nijmegen attacker Tijn Stuve’s four goals in the opening weekend, last Sunday it was Teun Mooldijk’s turn to score his second hat trick of the season. The Berkel-Rodenrijs player did so by exploiting three penalty corners in the home game with Ring Pass, which nevertheless ended in 3-4.
The top scorers list also logically includes players from SCHC. The team from Bilthoven beat Ede 8-0 and has already scored 12 times after two rounds of play. Alistair Empey and Cédric Terwel are SCHC’s most productive players for the time being with three goals each.
