With four rounds of play to go, the Women’s Promotion League is nearing its denouement. Bloemendaal is on the threshold of promotion to the Tulip big league after a year’s absence. For MOP, the curtain may finally fall in the Promotion Division.
Battle for promotion
Bloemendaal 18-44
Bloemendaal is firmly on top and can already become champion and force promotion this weekend. That happens if the team wins from Were Di and competitor Nijmegen loses to Leiden.
Remaining program:
Bloemendaal – Were Di
Groningen – Bloemendaal
Bloemendaal – Victoria
Leonidas – Bloemendaal
Nijmegen 18-36
Nijmegen follows leader Bloemendaal on eight points. First place is still in sight, but direct promotion is not in the team’s own hands. Nijmegen must remain error-free itself and hope for missteps by Bloemendaal. That seems a utopia, as Bloemendaal did not lose a single match this season. In addition, the team is fighting with Leonidas for the best starting position for the playoffs for a spot in the Tulip big league. The number two of the Promotion League will play against the number eleven of the Tulip big league for a spot on the highest level. The number three plays against the number ten. In addition, Ring Pass is lurking to possibly take advantage of a slip and thus snatch a spot in the playoffs. The difference between the two teams is four points.
Remaining program:
Nijmegen – Leiden
Were Di – Nijmegen
Nijmegen – Groningen
Victoria – Nijmegen
3.Leonidas 18-35
With third place, Leonidas is well placed to qualify for the play-offs. Number four Ring Pass, which is three points behind, does still pose a threat for a playoff spot. The meeting on the penultimate matchday could be crucial.
Remaining program:
Leonidas – Groningen
Victoria – Leonidas
Ring Pass – Leonidas
Leonidas – Bloemendaal

4.Ring Pass 18-32
Ring Pass is currently out of the running with fourth place. The arrears on Leonidas and Nijmegen are bridgeable. On the penultimate matchday Ring Pass plays against Leonidas. That could be decisive in the battle for a playoff spot.
Remaining program:
Victoria – Ring Pass
Ring Pass – Schaerweijde
Ring Pass – Leonidas
Push – Ring Pass
5.Groningen 18-28
Groningen’s prospects of participating in the playoffs are very slim, but the possibility is there. However, the team does not have that possibility in its own hands with eight points behind Nijmegen and seven behind Leonidas.
Remaining schedule:
Leonidas – Groningen
Groningen – Bloemendaal
Nijmegen – Groningen
Groningen – Breda
Leiden 18-27
The same applies to Leiden as Groningen. Participation in the playoffs is not in the team’s own hands. The difference with the playoff spots is eight and nine points respectively.
Remaining program:
Nijmegen – Leiden
Leiden – Breda
MOP – Leiden
Leiden – Schaerweijde
7.Victoria 18-27
The same applies to Victoria as to Leiden and Groningen. Qualifying for the playoffs is out of their hands. Like Leiden, they are eight points behind number three Leonidas and nine behind number two Nijmegen. Victoria is equal in points with Leiden, but the Rotterdam formation has one win less.
Remaining program:
Victoria – Ring Pass
Victoria – Leonidas
Bloemendaal – Victoria
Victoria – Nijmegen

Battle for play-outs and relegation
Were Di 18-21
With fourteen behind number three Leonidas, Were Di can no longer qualify for the playoffs. The focus is on keeping the safe eighth spot, or at least avoiding the play-outs. Were Di will start with two duels against top teams, but that will be followed by crucial games against rivals.
Remaining schedule:
Bloemendaal – Were Di
Were Di – Nijmegen
Breda – Were Di
Were Di – MOP
9.Push 18-16
Push for now in the safe ninth place. A place that at the end of the season guarantees another season in the Promotion Division. Sunday awaits the crucial match against Breda, which has the same number of points, but one win less. A victory would mean a big step towards maintaining Push.
Remaining program:
Breda – Push
Push – MOP
Schaerweijde – Push
Push – Ring Pass
10.Breda 18-16
Breda is in tenth place, which means participation in the playoffs at the end of the season. Sunday’s derby against Push is therefore of great importance. With a win, Breda will climb to a safe ninth place.
Remaining program:
Breda – Push
Leiden – Breda
Breda – Were Di
Groningen – Breda
11.Schaerweijde 18-14
Schaerweijde is in eleventh place, a spot that means relegation to the Overgangsklasse at the end of the season. It needs to overcome two points to Push to maintain its position. That could be decisive in the fight for retention.
Remaining program:
MOP – Schaerweijde
Ring Pass – Schaerweijde
Schaerweijde – Push
Leiden – Schaerweijde
12.MOP 18-5
The sword of Damocles has been hanging over MOP’s head for some time. But the curtain may finally fall for the team on Sunday. If MOP draws or loses to Schaerweijde, the team will play one level lower next season. If MOP wins against Schaerweijde, there might still be a glimmer of hope, but then Breda cannot win against Push.
Remaining program:
MOP – Schaerweijde
Push – MOP
MOP – Leiden
Were Di – MOP
