The semifinalists of the ABN Amro Hockey Weekend have been announced. For the ladies, SCHC, Pinoké, Tilburg and Kampong will play for the prizes. For the men, Bloemendaal, Oranje-Rood, Pinoké and Rotterdam came out on top. The semi-finals will be played Friday on the fields of Kampong and Schaerweijde. Sunday the finals will be played in Utrecht.
The ladies of SCHC and Pinoké had to play two duels of twice half an hour to reach the last four. SCHC won from HGC (3-2) and defeated Bloemendaal after shoot-outs (1-1 after thirty minutes). Pinoké settled with HDM (3-0) and lost to Rotterdam (1-1) after shoot-outs. For Tilburg, the 3-1 win over Oranje-Rood was enough to reach the semifinals. Exactly the same performance was delivered by Kampong against Hurley, which also won 3-1. For the ladies, ten of the twelve big league teams participate in the traditional preparation tournament, which is why the pools were not equally well filled.
In the men’s tournament, everyone had a full schedule. That was also thanks to substitute team Braxgata. The Belgians replaced Amsterdam, which will participate next weekend. The national champion will not be playing for the prizes, because Oranje-Rood won the group thanks to an extremely productive Struan Walker. The Scottish newcomer scored four goals Sunday, accounting for all of Eindhoven’s production in the games with Den Bosch (1-0) and Braxgata (3-2).
Bloemendaal advanced thanks to two narrow victories over Schaerweijde and Klein Zwitserland. Both duels ended 1-0. Pinoké won from Kampong (1-0) and Laren (2-1). Rotterdam beat HDM (1-0) early in the afternoon, but then lost to Hurley (1-1) via shoot-outs. However, the four points gained proved enough for group wins.
