Netherlands: Het weekend: 15-jarige debutanten, ons Soofje en KIA-parade

From Maastricht to Hattem and at Ares to Leonidas, last weekend there was plenty of hockey again. We take a look at the socials of the Fourth through the Transition Class. Some of the Instagram pearls of the standard teams.

It was an emotionally charged afternoon at the ladies of Druten. Not only because of the sponsors along the line, but also because of Sofie de Bruin. ‘Our Soofje’ played her last home game. A loss that will undoubtedly be felt in the locker room. And the match? The points were divided neatly with Vlijmen (2-2) in a nice game.

The KIA parade of men from IJburg was in for quite a ride. After a load of sausage rolls, they were able to tee off against Gilze-Rijen. It became a not only a goal scoring spectacle, but also the card counter was working overtime. One green, four yellow and one red. The coveted fair play prize was not for IJburg. The points, however, were won 8-4.

All together. That’s how the ladies of Basko got off to a great start against Gemert. It resulted in a 3-0 lead in the first quarter. A, by their own admission, too easily given penalty ball seemed to bring the tension back into the game. Soon after, Basko made short work of that tension. The 4-1 came on the board via a Gemert stick. Siem was named Matchwiefke because of her two goals, but also thanks to her uplifting words. In addition, she was bang on defensively and offensively. A deserved election therefore.

Zutphen out. It was an afternoon to quickly forget for the men of Barneveld/Spitsbergen. The team went down without a chance. With a painful 6-1 defeat they saw their chance for third place in the league go up in smoke. Yet there were two bright spots on this dark afternoon: 15-year-old talents Ad Guldie and Jasper Bruijnes from JO16-1 made their debuts and immediately showed that the future of the club is in good hands.

Today is red again. And that means three points home for the ladies of Twente. And how? A resounding 7-2 victory. With the full booty in their pockets, Twente can work confidently towards the Whitsun weekend where they will play Civicum for promotion.

The Buitenhout men set a beautiful milestone. For the third time in a row the team celebrated promotion. In one go from the Fourth to the First Division. Unique and especially beautiful for the club.

It worked. The ladies of Athena are champions. From 22 matches they scored 57 points – more than any other team in the First Division. Direct promotion to the Transitional Class is the beautiful result. The whistle had only just blown when the party erupted. The jubilation could be heard far beyond the field.

With a convincing 3-0 victory over HOD, the men from Nuenen finished their season in the First Division in good shape. It resulted in a neat fifth place – an achievement to be proud of. Now for a well-deserved rest … or looking ahead to next year? Would you like to play in green next season? Send coach Danny Nooijen a message!

The play-offs for promotion to the Promotion Class knew no mercy for the ladies of Cartouche. After a 1-1 draw at Gooische, the team from Voorburg lost the home game 2-0. Despite several chances they did not manage to win the match. The entourage was not to blame. Gooische will play Breda for a spot in the Promotion Division.

These are exciting times for the Gooische men. They survived the first round of the playoffs in the battle for promotion to the First Division. In the end shoot-outs were needed to beat Leonidas. Ede will be the opponent in the crucial duel over the Whitsun weekend. These two games will determine whether Gooische’s coveted promotion becomes a reality.
